Sefton moved into second place in the Cheshire South Lancashire Third Division with tries by Mark Tyms and Andy Sheehan plus two conversions and a penalty by Phil Evans.

Trailing 14-0 at one stage, Hoylake came back with key player Ben Flint scoring two tries and Paul Kay adding a conversion.

Ruskin Park 15 Sefton 27

Sefton maintained their Cheshire South Lancashire Third Division

promotion push with a hard fought success over Ruskin Park, who had been unbeaten in their previous five games.

Andy Sheehan, Peter McBride, Derek James and Wayne Osborne scored their tries with Phil Evans landing two conversions and a penalty.

Ruskin Park replied with tries by Ben Mousley and David Carlisle.

Wallasey 29 Sefton 10

Dave Lloyd and Dave Robertson were in top form for Wallasey, who scored tries through Robertson(2), Dave Maddocks and Lloyd with Kevin Parker adding three conversions and a penalty.

Sefton were best served by two try winger Simon Bedingfeldt and man of the match Derek James.

At the age of 53 the sad death of Gordon Brown was announced this week. The Ex-British Lion was guest speaker for the Sefton Annual Dinner held at The Devonshire Hotel on May 8th 1998.
