Trailing by eight points early in the second-half, Sefton hit back through a fine Mark Tyms try, while Mark Yates finished off a superb move to rank as one of the best of the season. Phil Evans added both conversions.

Injury-hit Sefton suffered further setbacks to both leading point scorer Phil Evans and Mark Tyms as they slipped out of the Powergen Junior Cup. This upset the rhythm of the side, despite the hard working efforts of Matt Thomas and Andy Walsh. Skipper Jamie Luck landed two penalties.

Playing their second cup tie in 24 hours and decimated by more injuries, a weakened Sefton found the effort too much and bowed out of the Lancashire Plate second round.

There were fine displays from twins Steve and Paul Kinley, who normally play in the third team, and second team captain Geraint Thomas. A Bill Coulter penalty was their only reward.

Even without seven senior squad players Sefton should still have won this Cheshire/South Lancashire Division Three clash. Trailing by 10 points, Seftons's recovery was led by Mark Tyms, Andy Walsh and Matt Thomas but a Mark Yates try and Billy Coulter penalty was not enough.

Sefton came close to winning this Cheshire/South Lancashire Division Three derby after Mark Tyms was held over the line and they also had a try disallowed. The outstanding Peter Gallagan's three penalties did the trick for Collegiate with Sefton scoring the game's only try through the impressive Andy Walsh.

Skipper Jamie Luck, Tom Fletcher and Geraint Thomas tried hard, but there was nothing for Sefton in this Cheshire/South Lancashire Division Three clash. Phil Osborne and Peter McBride scored their tries, both converted by Phil Evans.
